The Forum and Data

This week, we presented our project at the forum! It went great and many visitors were

amazed by our research and idea to help anaphylaxis. It went well, and we enjoyed

teaching the community about this condition. Our data showed us that many people

would benefit from this product. We had a survey sent out to our whole school and only

students with anaphylaxis filled it out. About 75% of people would find it helpful. We were

very happy with this outcome, and are very excited that we got to help our community.

This week, we made progress with our project! We made our poster, and it's looking

great. We wrote about the problem, the solution, and next steps in advancing this type of

technology. We also are making our prototype so we will be able to show it to people at

the forum on Thursday. Please come if you're available. It would be great to hear your

feedback in person!

Solution Developement

Hello! This week, our group has made a lot of progress with our solution. We have

decided to not create the blood pressure bracelet, but make a 3D model of it and explain

how it would work if it was created. Also, we are in the process of handing out surveys to

our community that ask them if they would use the bracelet, what colors they would

want, etc. Although we are not actually creating the bracelet, we are making our solution

measurable and beneficial to our community.

Problem/Solution Update

We are going back to our original idea with the blood pressure monitor. For people

having anaphalctic symptoms, their blood pressure greatly decreases during the

reactions. So, if we have a continuous blood pressure monitor, people will be able to tell

when they are about to have a reaction. We are trying to make a bracelet but we also

might make a sticker like monitor that goes on your chest and is connected to an

arduino.  An arduino is almost like a tiny computer that will allow us to program and use

the sensors how we like.  The plan is to have the arduino alert the wearer when their

blood pressure is dropping so they can prepare.  Thanks for reading.

Our idea

This week our group made a lot of progress. We've brought up a problem, along with

multiple possible solutions. Our problem is that when people with allergic reactions go to

the supermarket they don’t know which products contain certain ingredients, that they

could be allergic to. So we're came up with an idea. Our idea is to call certain markets,

(focusing on Gelson’s), to ask if they could make certain aisles that are substitutes for

items that people are allergic to. Some examples are, peanut free aisles and dairy free

aisles.

So far, everything is going well for our group! We came together as a group because we

all had Autism on our lists. However, once we collaborated and discuss, we decided food

allergies interested us more. We all thought that a good specific topic that happens in our

everyday life, would be food allergies. Because so many people have them. One problem

we have recently faced is that one group member was absent when we decided to

change our topic, and did not agree with doing food allergies. Other than that, our group

is doing great!.
